He was stolen and wants to come home!](https://gardenstudio.biz/2021/01/15/have-you-seen-this-guy-he-was-stolen-and-wants-to-come-home/): August 1 — December 1 I don’t know a better way to get to the perpetrator, thief, but you (thief) are in great danger so I write to the local paper in hopes I can help you. A friend was helping me with the leaves today and discovered my little cement gargoyle, Diablo was missing from our front yard.“Oh!” I reacted. I felt a pang of disbelief, a little sadness, but also gratefulness. This is the story: When we lived in St Paul, I bought him at a creepy, fringe antique store over 20 years ago. I was attracted to […] ## Pages - [The StoryBookLook](https://gardenstudio.biz/storybooklook/): This comes from my wild fantasies about being an English Victorian Illustrator. My faves are Arthur Rackam, Aubrey Beardsley, the not-so-Victorian Eric Kincaid, and neither Victorian nor English Charles Santore. In this technique, I will copy a photograph onto watercolor paper, do all the detail in pen and ink, and then give it a color wash. If you ever have taken a photo where reality only lasts a second you might get a little shakie. On the left: I took this years ago of Feargus our Scottie and George the new kitten. Their friendship was legendary and sadly, they are […] - [Prints and Stuff](https://gardenstudio.biz/prints-and-stuff/): You can get my images on a variety of prints (framed or unframed), including cups, blankets, t-shirts, and greeting cards. Here are just a few samples, but if you would like to see more, go to https://lynetteyencho.com/ - [Take a Photo](https://gardenstudio.biz/take-a-photo/): Important points 1. It helps to have a good close-up of your friend. Think about what angle you would like to use. Try to get eye level. This is a rule and they are all made to break so don’t take this as law. Sometimes looking down on a little dog when he is begging is very cute. We like cute. 2. Good lighting is very important. A well-lit room or outside on a cloudy day is perfect. Direct sunlight will wash out a lot of the important detail in your photo so in the shade or late afternoon. 3. […] - [Q&A](https://gardenstudio.biz/qa/): Q: What happens if my drawing arrives in bad shape? A: I will re-draw it and send it again. Not kidding. I feel horrible when this happens but it has happened and it will happen again I am sure. I did this picture of lovely little Maggi. It gets sent in a bubble wrap envelope but it seems that wasn’t enough as Maggi’s mom wrote back and sent me a photo of what happened. - [Junexmas](https://gardenstudio.biz/junexmas/): Thank you all for the great business this year. How wonderful it is to be able to draw your beloved pets, what I love most! Last Christmas season was terrific! And frankly, kind of busy. I want to continue to spend the time I need to make your portrait perfect. Thinking a sale on Black Friday could be deadly to quality, I have decided to encourage spreading orders over time. So here is the deal: Once you order, you will get an email from Lynette and you can send your photos and a bit about your pet(s). She will give […] - [Print and Gift Shop](https://gardenstudio.biz/print-and-gift-shop/): https://fineartamerica.com/widgetshoppingcart/artwork.html?memberidtype=artistid&memberid=56226&domainid=0&showheader=0&height=600&autoheight=true - [Where Else?](https://gardenstudio.biz/where-else-3/): You can find my work in other corners of the web: GardenStudio My oldest business name but my newest site is where you can find projects and paintings for sale. At that time I thought I was a seasoned illustrator! >>>>•••<<<<< Little did I know the journey I would go on. Upon mailing out mini-portfolios landed me work with collectible companies, photo studios, foundries, entrepreneurs, theatres, tourist companies, and even a few publishers. Sometimes a pen and ink drawing is all you need to fill a spot on your wall. A black and white pen & ink adds a point of interest and you will always have your friend there to remind you. 8″ x 10″, all you need to do is contact me, and arrange to send a few photos or one if that is all you have or want. $50 Free shipping. If you would like to commission a piece, please contact me. Things I will need right away are photos and a little about your pet. Or, if you know what you want, I have a helpful protocol for ordering. Here are a few examples of what each medium can look like and their approximate price: - [Colored Pencil](https://gardenstudio.biz/colored-pencil/): There are differences between watercolor and pencil paintings, even though some might look the same. The main one is the material. I use fine Strathmore Bristol paper and wax or oil pencils. If you like the fine deliberate, detail in a portrait, it is more likely to happen with pencil and the artist, yours truly, spends much more time on them. Watercolors are a dance and they sometimes paint themselves! I often use watercolor pencils for detail for those. Both have qualities of their own. I have a helpful protocol page with a checklist of how best to order your […] - [Pets/Acrylic on Canvas](https://gardenstudio.biz/pet-portraits/pets-in-acrylic-on-canvas/): Frankie with Pearl Earring. Your pet painted in famous painting, $1500 I love to paint acrylic on canvas. The color never fails and with airbrush, I can get a pretty realistic look. You might notice that my realism has a few “flaws”, I have to dance with it or it doesn’t feel right. Sometimes I scrub over the painting until it bleeds, but in the end we come out of the studio happy. A commissioned painting of this size is an investment. If you would like me to paint your little Sweetheart or big Sweetheart this way, please contact me. […] - [The Art of Lynette Yencho](https://gardenstudio.biz/): Lynette Yencho spent 50 years being the commercial artist she was groomed to be but she spent a lot of time trying to carve the difference between commercial and fine. Though the line is not so clear these days, a commercial artist works for another and does their bidding. When you freelance you have many bosses and all have different interests. You need to adopt those interests if you want to do anything good for them. You also developed different styles and picked up different skills. Now she doesn’t waste her time. She just draws and paints and hopes it […] - [My account](https://gardenstudio.biz/my-account/) - [Checkout](https://gardenstudio.biz/checkout/) - [Cart](https://gardenstudio.biz/cart/) - [GardenStudio Gallery](https://gardenstudio.biz/shop/): Pet Portraits See an example of work you can commission Drawings available from the challenge InkTober 2020 : Garden Flowers The Legends of Flowers Drawings: - [Contact Lynette](https://gardenstudio.biz/contact-2/): Do you think you will want this soon? - [I Digress](https://gardenstudio.biz/blog/): August 1 — December 1 Contest 2023 Winners! Results of the latest contest. I am so sorry I missed a few when the contest closed. If it was difficult to enter, please let me know so I can improve for next time. I needed to keep it fair and simple. As it stands, I had 4 entries, and I couldn’t decide so they all won! Yes, one might say that is insane but I say “NO, I just enjoy being old.” These were all experiments with the new French paper, Pastelmat. I purchased it a while ago. It is so […] ## Products - [Itty-Bit](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/itty-bit/): An Itti-bit is a painting or drawing that is 5x7 or smaller, the smallest is 3x3.  I use up scraps that are cut off the larger paintings to make these.  Sometimes I like these better. All Itty-bits are $35—$50.  Contact me for sizes and mediums you would like. The painting does not come with a frame. - [PetPortraits in Pen and Ink](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/petportraits-in-pen-and-ink/): All pen and inks are 8x10 at this point.  If you would like something a different size, let's talk. - [PetPortraits in Acrylic on Canvas](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/petportraits-in-acrylic-on-canvas/): Everyone loves acrylic on canvas it seems.  The colors are very rich and the airbrush gives the fur a very real look.  All the portraits are done on canvas wrapped around a 1.5" stretcher so no frame is needed unless you want one of course. - [PetPortraits in Colored Pencil](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/petportraits-in-colored-pencil/): There are differences between watercolor and pencil paintings, even though some might look the same.  The main one is the material. I use fine Strathmore Bristol paper here and wax or oil pencils.  If you like the fine deliberate, detail in a portrait, it is more likely to happen with pencil and pen and the artist, yours truly, spends much more time on them.  Watercolors are a dance and they sometimes paint themselves! I often use watercolor pencils for detail for those. Both have qualities of their own. - [PetPortraits in Watercolor](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/watercolor-portraits/): Watercolors are my best sellers and that is fine by me.  I love to mess with paint and there are a lot of risks taken here.  Sometimes I even start over if it doesn't quite work.  I do add a little colored pencil for some detail but you won't be sorry. - [Loon](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/loon-2/): Giclee print, 11″ x 17″, acid-free paper. The Legend of Bleeding Heart A young soldier was assigned to assist a caravan from Cathay to Western Asia. The Journey was very dangerous and his young wife was very afraid for him. She visited a sorcerer who gave her a coral necklace to wear “When the sun rises, you hold your necklace tight to your heart and you will see your husband and where he is as long as the sun touches the sea.” This was a great comfort to her each morning she could see her husband loading camp, or mounting his hours. But one morning she witnessed the dread bandits approaching and one by one she watched with horror as each man was killed, and her beloved was beheaded. Her automatic reaction was to run to him, but forgetting she was on a cliff, she fell. As she tumbled down, she whorled with the coral in her hand, close to her heart. Before she reached the bottom, the tangle of her hair and her necklace, herself, turned into a beautiful plant with coral colored hearts. Still grieving for her husband, the beautiful Bleeding Heart does not need any more bad news and does quite well in the shade. - [Broadcasting](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/broadcasting/): Giclee print, 17" x 11" of watercolor.  This also can be printed and framed by Society6 Hare Bells Long ago the pixies declared war on the faeries, and in one terrible battle, the faeries were defeated. They flew from the fields in a panic. but three little faeries with crippled wings were left behind. In terror, they raced toward a sheltering patch of brush, with the pixies in quick pursuit. Just as they reached the brush, a hare scampered out and told them to leap on his back. Speeding away, he carried the three faeries to safety. And in gratitude, the Faerie Queen planted the fields with flower bells, so that they might ring a warning whenever danger threatened any hare. And from that day, the flower has been known as “harebell”. - [The Legends of Flowers, Sanpdragon](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/the-legends-of-flowers-sanpdragon/): Giclee print, Snap Dragon In a valley of flowers was a very happy community of faeries. They lived under a canopy of beautiful colors from the wildflowers and were able to make clothes and jewelry from the petals and drink the nectar, and sleep on the soft pistils at night. Life was wonderful. But the faeries did not take care of the flowers, they only reaped the benefits and it was not long when the flowers became weary of the thoughtless little faeries. One night, one of the faeries prepared for bed, the flower snapped shut on her. As she tried to fight her way out of the bloom, it tightened and swallowed her. The result was a different shape flower, very pretty and as the other flowers admired the look, they too began to snap and turned to dragons. Since then, faeries have become excellent gardeners and they take care. - [Impatiens Explosion](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/impatiens-explosion/): Giclee print , 8" x 10" Impatiens Explosion There was once a faerie who couldn't decide what color to wear at the summer Equinox. She became so distressed she exploded and wherever the bits fell to the ground up popped an electric colored flower, each one a different color. So when you decide to pop one of the pods you see on an impatient, in flower, in the fall, you are helping the faeries decided what color to wear. - [Legends of Flowers, Aster](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/legends-of-flowers-aster/): Giclee print, 8" x 10" The Legend of Aster As the iron age approached, what was once an art form, casting bronze and gold soon gave way to designing implements of war and destruction. The gods deserted the earth for the heavens. Jupiter was angered so that he created a flood to destroy the earth. All perished but Decline and his wife were spared because they committed themselves to the earth and care for it. However fortunate, the two were left alone on earth that was mud and slime. As the goddess Asterea was lighting the sky with her night lamp, she wept when she saw the two. Her starry tears turned to little lavender, blue and pink flowers, and covered the earth, and it was beautiful once more. - [Fancy](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/fancy/): "Fancy".  For the InkTober 2020 challenge.  Pen and white Ink, on black acid-free drawing paper, 5" x 10". - [Teeth](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/teeth/): "Teeth".  For the InkTober 2020 challenge.  Pen and white Ink, on black acid-free drawing paper, 5" x 10". - [Throw](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/throw/): "Throw".  For the InkTober 2020 challenge.  Pen and white Ink, on black acid-free drawing paper, 5" x 10". - [Rocket](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/rocket/): "Rocket".  For the InkTober 2020 challenge.  Pen and Ink, on acid-free drawing paper, 7" x 9". - [Storm](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/storm/): "Storm".  For the InkTober 2020 challenge.  Pen and white Ink, on black acid-free drawing paper, 5" x 10". - [R.I.P.](https://gardenstudio.biz/product/r-i-p/):   "R.I.P".  For the InkTober 2020 challenge.  Pen and Ink, 7" x 9", on acid-free drawing paper.
